A tender celebration of one of Christmas’s smallest rituals: bringing home a tree, dressing it with treasured ornaments, and standing back together to admire what it has become. E. E. Cummings’s little tree captures Christmas through a child’s eyes, making this print a nostalgic reflection on family, wonder, and the quiet traditions that give the season its meaning.

Cummings transforms an ordinary Christmas tree into something worthy of tenderness and attention. The poem’s childlike speaker promises to comfort the little tree, decorate every branch, and finally join hands with a sister to dance and sing before it. It is an affectionate portrait of Christmas before the celebration becomes complicated—a tree, a family, and the delight of making something beautiful together.
The accompanying illustration echoes that feeling with two children before a candlelit Christmas tree, wrapped gifts, evergreen garlands, a snowy village beyond the window, and a watchful cat nearby. Its softly painted, vintage storybook character gives the print the feeling of an illustration remembered from Christmases long ago.
Display it in a living room, entryway, family reading space, or beside a collection of classic Christmas poetry and literary art. It also pairs naturally with other traditional Christmas pieces, allowing a seasonal gallery wall to grow into a collection of the stories and poems your family returns to year after year.
A piece for homes where Christmas is remembered as much as it is celebrated.
