A powerful expression of conviction at the threshold of the American Revolution, Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech captures the moment when principle demanded a choice. This historically inspired print is designed for those who value courage, liberty, persuasive rhetoric, and the words that helped shape the American founding.

Delivered before the Second Virginia Convention on March 23, 1775, Henry’s speech argued that the time for petitions and negotiation had passed. This print brings together selected passages from the address, culminating in the declaration that has endured for more than two centuries: “Give me liberty, or give me death!”

Patrick Henry spoke at St. John’s Church in Richmond, Virginia, as delegates debated how the colony should respond to the growing conflict with Great Britain. His argument was more than a memorable closing line. It was an exercise in rhetoric—moving deliberately through evidence, urgency, consequence, and finally conviction.

The print preserves several of the speech’s defining passages, including Henry’s questions about the price of peace, his warning that war had effectively begun, and his insistence that the issue before the convention was ultimately one of “freedom or slavery.”

Rendered in deep navy, burgundy, antique gold, and warm parchment tones, the piece has the character of a historical document collected and preserved over generations. It is equally suited to a traditional home library or office and to a history, government, rhetoric, or classical education classroom.

Pair it with Thomas Paine’s The American Crisis, the Declaration of Independence, Washington’s writings, or other Revolutionary Era speeches and documents to build a collection centered on the words and arguments that shaped American independence.

Designed for those who believe history is best understood through the words of those who helped make it.
