A quiet reflection on the principles George Washington believed essential to the survival of the American republic. This Washington’s Farewell Address print brings selected passages from his 1796 address into the home, designed for those who value liberty, civic virtue, history, and the ideas that shaped the nation.
Rather than presenting the address as a simple historical document, the print organizes Washington’s counsel around enduring themes: Religion and Morality, Unity, Avoiding Factions, Foreign Influence, Public Debt, and the Love of Liberty. The result is a piece meant to be read and returned to—a reminder that self-government depends not only upon institutions, but upon the character and judgment of its people.

Washington composed his Farewell Address as he prepared to leave the presidency after two terms. His warnings against destructive factionalism and foreign entanglements sit alongside reflections on national unity, public credit, religion, morality, and the preservation of liberty. More than two centuries later, these passages offer a window into how the first generation of American leaders understood the responsibilities of a republic.
Rendered in warm ivory, antique gold, deep navy, and burgundy, the design has the character of an heirloom document without feeling like a reproduction from an archive. It fits naturally into a home library, office, study, history classroom, or traditional living space.
Pair it with the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights, Gettysburg Address, or other American historical prints to create a collected wall centered on the documents and ideas of American history.
Designed to preserve important words where they can continue to be read, considered, and discussed.
