The Great Seal gathers a remarkable amount of American symbolism into a single image. The eagle carries an olive branch and arrows—symbols of peace and defense—while the constellation above represents the states joined together as one nation. Above it all appears E Pluribus Unum, traditionally translated as “Out of many, one.”
Designed to be lived with—not just displayed.
